Joe Berger, LICSW, is a therapist in private practice in Burlington, VT. He received his Masters in Social Work from the University of Vermont in 2012. He has worked in a variety of community mental health settings, including at a state psychiatric hospital, in a parenting program at a women’s prison, and as coordinator of an 11-bed residential program for women transitioning out of prison. He completed two years of post-graduate training in Bowen Family Systems Theory at The Bowen Center for the Study of the Family in Washington, D.C. and two years at the Vermont Center for Family Studies. He has given presentations on gender transition and the family and other topics related to Bowen Theory.
