Professional Training Program

This monthly half-day program is designed for therapists and other professionals who want to develop a unique set of precision skills through which individuals strengthen relationships by strengthening themselves. Participants join a community of practice, and learn to apply Bowen theory to the challenges in their own family and professional work.

(Clinician, Counselor, Social Worker, Clergy, Coach, Organizational Consultant)

  • Help Strengthen Families 
  • Gain Superior Couples Coaching Skills 
  • Coach Parents 
  • Maintain Calm in Family Storms 
  • Identify, describe, and help modify the fundamental emotional patterns in any family system

Sessions Include

  • Presentations and discussion with VCFS faculty
  • Small group consultation with a faculty supervisor on family of origin work, clinical practice, or other applications
  • Four individual coaching meetings with your faculty supervisor between sessions
  • Participant presentations
  • Shared reading assignments

Meeting Schedule:

  • 3rd Friday of each month from September-April
  • 9 am to 12:30 pm
  • Cost: $1,400
  • Recommended for 30 hours of continuing education units

Trainee Responsibilities

  • Complete the application and interview

  • Attend and participate in all monthly meetings

  • Present situations for study in small supervision groups

  • Present ones independent study of theory to larger group at the end of the year
