Michael is a Clinical Social Worker and co-founder of Optima in Burlington, Vermont. Optima is a group of independent clinicians who work with families, children and adolescents. Michael began his work in human services 24 years ago as a substitute worker at Baird Center for Children and Families and Howard Mental Health. He went on to work at Howard Mental Health for several years working with adults dealing with chronic mental illness. After his graduate education, he worked for several years at Vermont CARES serving the needs of individuals and families living with and at risk of HIV infection as their Clinical Director of Client and Prevention Services. Michael also held the position of Executive Director of the Vermont Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers. Michael completed three years of the Postgraduate Training Program in Bowen Family Systems Theory at the Bowen Center in Washington, D.C.. Presently, he is a member of the Board of the Vermont Center for Family Studies.
